Cycle of Damaged Love

Love... something everyone wants, that perfect thing, that one thing that will forever be in their mind, win or lose.  Girl and boy meet, something blossoms, they create memories and then... one day... it's gone.  Man and woman meet, something blossoms, they get married, have children, build a life of memories and then... one day... it's gone.  That seems to be what this thing called love is all about.  They hang on to each other, only in memories.  But... why?

Rarely is it a mutual choice to end something that was created with lifelong plans and dreams.  Life gets in the way of everything.  Temptations, bad decisions, hard times... usually one or even sometimes all three are in the recipe for memories of that lost future.

At one point, someone is everything to someone else, but life steps in and presents an unexpected turn that can't be rewound.  And the culprit will do their best to hide their wrong doings, sometimes for so long it festers inside of them to where they resent the one they are deceiving as though they had something to do with the temptation that presented the bad decision that cause them a hard time.  In many cases, had they come out and admitted their wrong doing, confessed to the other what they had done, feelings might be hurt, but steps could be taken to move past the event and nothing would truly be completely destroyed, but could be a lesson learned.

This is where scars, emotional damage and distrust happen.  It is of no fault of the innocent, yet the innocent is left with feelings they were not prepared for, or know how to deal with.  Those feelings fester into the scars caused by the emotional damage and broken trust.  While the guilty party is also left with the same, but also left with the guilt of being the cause of someone else's anguish.

This seems to be a cycle of adult love that begins in adolescence.  Not every single relationship has this scenario, but unfortunately more do than do not.  It's sad, because that ONE thing that everyone craves in life, they normally have until they come across the foundations of relationship destruction.
