Coast to Coast Travel In A Day

I am in the midst of traveling, at the mercy of the airlines, and all that they have to offer.  And so my journey begins on the east coast of this great nation.  People do this everyday, millions at a time, so what is so special about this particular journey?  Um, just that it is mine.

I love to travel, however, I love it more when I am behind the wheel, or I am on a plane that is only in the air for a couple of hours at a time.  So, to get from east to west, I had to begin in Baltimore and end up in Sacramento.  Literally, coast to coast.  My journey began obviously in Baltimore.  From Baltimore, I had to spend some time in Vegas (not enough time to say I was IN Vegas), and finally, Sacramento!

Let me just say, that the flight from Baltimore to Vegas... HORRIBLE!  I was on a 737 Southwest jet.  Apparently the flight attendants decided to take their bitchy pills before they came to work, OR they just had a really long day thus far and decided to take it out on this particular flight.  The flight was jammed full of gamblers headed to the casinos.  And the weather was horrible, making for a very bumpy ride.  And to top that off, we were informed prior to take off, that the particular jet that we were on, happened to be fairly new.  All I could think about was the Titanic and how IT was new too!

The one thing that kept me occupied for the very long 5 and a half hour flight was the Canasta app on my cellphone!  However, I killed the battery and couldn't wait to get to Vegas to recharge in time for the next flight, however, that flight was only an hour and a half, so it wasn't as dreaded.  Now, I have been through a few airports, not many, and let me just say that Vegas airport?  One of the worst!

I expected to find some casino-like atmosphere, and I did, but that wasn't so bad.  I actually like casino atmosphere.  What I did NOT like was how expensive everything was.  It cost me double for a bottle of soda in Vegas as it did in Baltimore AND... there was NO place at my gate to plug in!  I ended up finding a pole with a receptacle in a corner and had to sit on the floor.  In Baltimore there are plenty of places to plug in while you wait.

The flight from Vegas to Sacramento was not as bad, but it was also not as long.  This being my first trip to the west coast, and I am dreading the trip back to the east coast.  The trip home is via Chicago instead of Vegas.  We shall see!
